ASIA
From 1995 to 2002, YATV product several series of programmes on issues relating to society, culture and the environment in Asia. These programmes featured experiences from various countries of Asia and were produced as part of a novel concept to engage young people the production of TV programmes about common concerns and issues. The programme series were also an attempt to broaden the representation of south Asia in the TV environment in the region , to raise awareness and learn from the experiences of neighboring countries.
Space To Let
The "space" on offer here is a space that is badly needed by Asian
women and other marginalized groups to voice their views and concerns.
This
programme series covers a wide range of issues including the sex
industry, abortion, arranged marriages, education, employment and
healthcare. (Produced from 1996 – 2002)
Young Outlook
Young
Outlook is a series dedicated to young people of the world who are
working to make a difference within their communities. The series
features a selected group of individuals who aspire to make
improvements with their contributions to society. Each personality is
featured in four half-hour programs that explore various aspects of
their lifestyles. (Produced 2000 – 2002)
YA Tribe
Dive
into a world of festivals, ceremonies, dance, fashion and rituals on YA
Tribe. A place where you can witness dance forms from every corner of
Asia, celebrate a festival dedicated to a Rain God, or fall under the
passionate spell of Sufi music, YA Tribe celebrates the colourful world
of Asian life, culture and tradition like no other. (Produced 1996 –

YA Café
Ya Cafe takes a look at the lighter side
of youth life in Asia. You can try a little Mongolian cookery or
Singapore fashion for starters, indulge in a main course of hot air
ballooning in Nepal and finish off with a dessert of music from Indian
ghazal singers. (Produced 1996 – 2001
Nature Calls
There
are few things more important in the world today than the state of the
environment. The great “Cycle of Life” consists of millions of
different species of plants, birds, trees, insects, mammals, fish and
countless others that all co-exist in a delicate balance. If just one
component of this cycle is harmed or removed, every other part suffers.
The Nature Calls programme takes a closer look at environmental issues
around Asia, highlighting efforts made at conserving and actively
